But hey, every good contest needs official rules, so here are ours:

Aberg Center for Literacy is conducting its “A Way With Words” contest through Facebook, beginning Thursday, April 18 and ending, Tuesday, May 7th, 2013.

Aberg Center will give away 3 pairs of tickets to our May 16, 2013 show at the Lakewood Theater.

To enter, contestants must be fans of Aberg Center for Literacy on Facebook and post a comment or like a post on Aberg Center’s Facebook page during the duration of the contest as defined in rule #1.

All entries are valid throughout the duration of the contest.

One winner will be chosen by random drawing each Tuesday of the contest (4/23, 4/30, 5/6), and announced in a post on Aberg Center’s Facebook page between 3pm and 5pm the same day.

Each winner will win two tickets to the May 16th “A Way with Words Comes to Dallas” show. Tickets are the only prize. No substitutions or cash value will be awarded.

No contestant may win more than once.

Winners will be contacted by Aberg Center through Facebook.

Tickets may be claimed at will-call of Lakewood Theater the day of the show. Tickets will be under the name of the winner. ID will be required to pick up tickets.

As of this writing there are 312 days to finish up the current GED test before the new test goes live in 2014. For the 28% of Dallas adults who don’t yet have a high school education, we are trying to spread the word that taking the current test is going to be easier, less-expensive and still paper-based and that this is the year to finish! Beginning this January, Aberg Center has begun to offer the official GED practice test so learners can see if they are ready to take the full GED. The practice test takes 4 hours (half the time of the GED) and we are offering tests at least once a month and then helping find GED testing locations for those ready to go.

Special thanks to The Dallas Foundation Community Impact Fund which provided a much needed grant to improve our testing center including be able to offer the official GED practice test.

A few GED practice test takers get one more cup of coffee before starting their exam.
